Treatment: Weekly dosing in lieu of mechanical desludging, tracked via regular pH, COD and sludge-depth monitoring. Result: odour complaints dropped from constant to negligible, COD fell from 12,750 to 7,370 mg/L, and sludge depth reduced from 3.6m to 0.9m — avoiding the capital cost and downtime of a mechanical clean-out.
